White Sands

White Sands is a rich transparent glaze with small fleck of colour within it.

It was developed to represent the beautiful white sandy beaches we have here in Western Australia.

When glazing I coat the whole outside of the vessel with white sands then poor clear glaze into the interior and around the rim on the outside.

The interaction of the two glazes creates a soft cream line where they overlap.

With the plate I dip vertically into the white sands up to where my fingers are holding onto the plate, then when dry I invert the plate and dip just passed and onto the white sands. This again creates a beautiful pale cream line and an edge of white.
